Sri Lankan cricketer Kamindu Mendis reached the 1,000-run milestone in 13 innings, equalling the record of Australian great Don Bradman.

He surpassed former India batter Vinod Kambli, who had achieved the feat in 14 innings, to become the fastest Asian batter to reach the milestone.

Herbert Sutcliffe and Sir Everton Weekes both reached 1,000Test runs in just 12 innings, placing them among the fastest in test cricket history. 

Kamindu captained Sri Lanka at the Under-19 level and gained attention for his unique ability to bowl with both hands, which is rare in international cricket.

Kamindu Mendis is highly regarded for his all-round skills and his potential to contribute to both the batting and bowling departments.
